Mike Woosley

Mike earned his bachelors, masters, and Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering graduating with honors from the University of Virginia. He has worked in the national lab system including INL, Los Alamos, Oak Ridge, and for the Atomic Energy Commission of France at Cadarache. He has worked as a consultant for Framatome and B&W Nuclear Fuels.

Mike has a diversity of experiences in venture- and PE-backed startups in a broad spectrum of technologies including nuclear, robotics and autonomous transportation, SAAS software, AI and optimization, data center power and siting, energy transformation, and clean energy.

Mike has served as CFO and COO of venture-backed and high growth companies that have reached one billion in sales. He has worked for three startups as CFO, COO, or in a dual role. All three ventures were sold to strategic buyers.

Mike has experience in robotics: he served as operations manager for Team Jefferson, a robotics initiative that delivered mobile robots which competed in the 2005 DARPA Desert Challenge and the 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge.

Mike spent three years at Mars & Co., a strategic consulting organization, working in the energy industry, mostly nuclear, and solving issues related to valuation, contingent assets and liabilities, legal and antitrust, and general issues of finance. Mike worked on two transactions in excess of $1 B, including one successfully-completed hostile takeover.

Mike is currently working as a Nuclear Policy Advisor to U.S. Congress in the office of Senator Chris Coons. In this capacity, Mike covers all areas of energy, clean energy, and energy transformation include hydrocarbons, renewables, nuclear, and grid enhancement, technology, and stability. Mike’s Energy & Environment team with Coons has introduced three nuclear bills in the areas of nuclear licensing and regulation, finance, and export.
